NEW YEAR

Its 2018 now. Things are starting to get real and deadlines are getting closer. I took a break but now I need to get focused again. The problem is, I don't seem to be able to be happy with the songs I'm writing. I've probably re-written the songs about 4 times. But with every time that happens, new ideas emerge which I suppose isn't all that bad. I tried to listen to a wide range of songs that incorporated dynamics and sounds as I want to try and use as much as I can as the songs progress. For example listening to Foals and the more mellow side of Red Hot Chili Peppers to Slash and 30 Seconds to Mars for the bigger sounds.
One thing I should mention is a gift that my dad gave me for Christmas this year is a book by philosopher Henry David Thoreau called Walden. Thoreau in 1854 decided to retreat from modern society and spent two years in a small shack he built near a place called Walden Pond. In his book he condenses that time into a single year and uses the four seasons to symbolise human development.
It's a great read and ties in perfectly with my project as it has the same themes which I am writing about. It also has some very memorable quotes in it.
